Our Philosophy
To expose students so that they become fully functional and have the capacity for self-determination and stability so that they can make intelligent, rational and satisfying decisions about their lives in or to attain their full potential.

Objectives of the Guidance Programme
The objectives of the Guidance Department are intended to incorporate the various functions of the department (preventive, interventive, supportive, administrative) that will enable individuals to make informed choices and decisions for themselves and thus, to develop more positive approaches to addressing problems and challenges faced on a daily basis.
Preventive indicates the timely dissemination of information to enhance personal growth and development which include sound values, adoption of appropriate behaviour, enhancement of personal development and development of conflict management and resolution skills.
Interventive refers to the identification of problems/challenges, assessment of conflict, counseling (individual, group and family) as well as teachers’ sessions, referrals to local and national agencies that are in collaboration with the department, school and Ministry.
Supportive indicates the aspects of the consultations and collaborations with such groups as the Guidance Committee, Parent Teachers’ Association, staff, prefect body and peer counselors. It also includes consultations with other counselors, health educators, children’s services officers, the police, community personnel as well as the guidance unit at the Ministry of Education and Youth.
Administrative alludes to the support of the department through records, correspondences, dialogues, reports and the curriculum.
The programme aims:
- To promote awareness, understanding and acceptance of thoughts, strengths and weaknesses in student population.

To recognize persons as worthwhile individuals.
- To develop coping skills as they relate to peer pressure and peer influence.
- To assist students in understanding their feelings in relationships and to choose their friends wisely.
- To aid students in the clarification of their values and value concepts which will assist them to set realistic goals.
- To provide for leadership development, building responsibility and resolving conflicts among peers.
- To effect necessary changes individually and institutionally.
- To provide and arrange for psychological/psycho educational evaluation for children who may be experiencing learning disabilities or abnormal behaviours.
- To offer feedback to any testing done to child, parent/guardian or any other authorized persons.
- To support all fair policies of the school for the advancement of positive values and attitudes and the total good of the school.
- To develop individual and personal competences.
- To develop coping skills in students to help them handle the normal daily challenges.
- To focus on self-awareness for self improvement and positive self-image.
